At the age of 29, Helen moved to her childhood home in order to care for her parents as they grew closer to the end. This is the point. This would require the burn to be noticeable enough that it is seen clearly be all members of the audience but not so extreme that the viewer wonders about it before it is brought up, this could solved by lighting, focusing more on the burn when more attention is being paid to it.
